FAREWELL TO NICHE: THE SHOW
BALTIMORE (August 31, 2012) – In a brief letter to exhibitors, The Rosen Group announced the cancellation of NICHE: The Show, its three-year-old Las Vegas trade show, and invited past participants to move to the company’s flagship show, the Buyers Market of American Craft.
The Buyers Market will take place February 16-18, 2013, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia.
“After producing three respectable and gorgeous small shows during Jewelry Week in Las Vegas, we have decided not to repeat NICHE: The Show there,” wrote Rebecca Mercado, director of both shows. “Economic factors, including the cost of producing a show in Las Vegas, have contributed to our decision to research other alternatives. In the Jewelry Week marketplace, we encountered formidable challenges to growing our show to a size that would justify the investment required.”
NICHE: The Show was launched in 2010 as a spin-off of the 30-year-old Buyers Market, offering high-end jewelry and a carefully curated selection of related luxury products. The Rosen Group conceived the show to attract western states artists and luxury buyers.
Jewelry in gold, silver and gemstones, designed and made by U.S. and Canadian artists, is also a feature of Buyers Market. Premier Jewelry is showcased in its own section of the show and previewed during a wine reception the evening before the full show opens. The 2013 Premier Jewelry Preview takes place on February 15 from 4-7 p.m. The preview and the Buyers Market will be open wholesale to the trade only.
“Our desire to better serve the artists and buyers in the western states is as strong as ever,” Ms. Mercado wrote. “We recognize and appreciate so much that you gave NICHE: The Show a chance as a new show. Thank you for your partnership and your hard work, which contributed to making that show a success for many artists and buyers alike.”
